Fayetteville and the communities around it, including Hope Mills, Cedar Creek, Eastover, Rockfish, Stedman, and Spring Lake.

Towns we cover

Each town has its own sewer setup, and homes outside those lines rely on septic. Pick your town for local details.

The area at a glance

Fayetteville PWC provides sewer in the city and is still extending it into neighborhoods annexed years ago, a program scheduled to run through 2037. Towns like Stedman run their own sewer for homes in town. Outside those lines, many homes around Fayetteville depend on their own septic tanks and drain fields.

Septic permits come from Cumberland County Environmental Health in Fayetteville, or from Hoke County Environmental Health in Raeford for Hoke County homes. See ourpermits page for contacts.

The Cape Fear River runs through the middle of it all. Sandhills sand, low wet ground near the creeks and river, and floods from Hurricanes Matthew and Florence make regular pumping and a healthy drain field matter here.
